Ah…..Thanksgiving!  America’s day to watch parades and football, and gather with the  family for the huge Thanksgiving feast!  And the star of that feast is of course the Stuffed Turkey!  We’d like to honor the big bird with a special trivial salute!  Pass me the drumstick…….yum!

Prairie dogs are not dogs. A prairie dog is a kind of rodent….(what’s a rodent?)

More than 46 million turkeys are expected to be eaten on Thanksgiving and another 22 million for Christmas…..(what will I be eating?)

Wild turkeys spend the night in trees. They especially like oak trees…..(I spend the night on the bed, or in Riley’s bed, or sometimes on the couch….if turkey’s don’t have paws…how can they climb?)

Ben Franklin, in a letter to his daughter, proposed the turkey as the official United States bird. (Riley says the bald eagle was selected…and the turkey, well, he probably got eaten.)

Snoopy made his Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade debut in 1968 and has appeared in it 28 times since then….(Riley says – I’m so light in the head I could be a balloon in the parade too !)

The heaviest turkey ever raised was 86 pounds, about the size of a large dog….(yeah, the size of Jameson !)

Wild turkeys can fly for short distances up to 55 miles per hour…(of course they can fly….their birds…duh !)

Wild turkeys can run 20 miles per hour….(i can run too….I run all the time… up the stairs, down the stairs, outside to get the squirrels, and when I’m being chased !)

Baby turkeys are called poults….(baby dog’s are called puppies !!)
